Questions about income tax appeals & representation

When is the income tax return due?

For individuals and businesses that don't need an audit, generally 31 July after the financial year ends. Audit cases have until 31 October. The government sometimes extends these dates.

Old regime or new regime: which is better?

The new regime is the default and has lower rates with few deductions. The old regime can still save tax if you claim large deductions such as home loan interest and investments. We compare both before filing.

What changes with the Income-tax Act, 2025?

The new Act takes effect from 1 April 2026 and replaces 'previous year' and 'assessment year' with a single 'tax year'. Returns for the year 2025-26 are still filed under the old Act.
